Stephanie Baker Collins
Professor Emeritus, Social Work

Dr. Baker Collins is a Professor in the School of Social Work at McMaster University.
She received her Master’s in Social Welfare Policy from McMaster University, and her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Toronto. She teaches in the areas of social policy, poverty and homelessness, evaluation and research methods, and chairs the McMaster Community Poverty Initiative. Dr. Baker Collins has a decade of experience in social policy research, analysis, and advocacy at the community and national level. Her research projects take a participatory approach, involving community members and partners in the research process to best address community needs. She focuses on how public policy impacts the lives of marginalized groups, including those who experience poverty and/or homelessness. Her current research project explores the intersection of disability, homelessness, education and employment among youth.
