Kamal Bali
Assistant Professor, Surgery

Born and raised in India, Dr Bali gained entrance into medical school at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi by securing 1st rank all over India amongst over 100,000 competing candidates. During his orthopaedic residency at University of Ottawa, he was consistently a high achiever, winning multiple teaching and academic awards. He achieved the rare distinction of scoring 100th percentile amongst all test takers in the American Orthopaedic In-Training Exam for the year 2018. Dr. Bali is extensively trained and has completed his advanced fellowships in joint replacement surgery from Australia, Calgary, and University of Western Ontario. In addition, he is also fellowship trained in Trauma Surgery. Dr. Bali also has his Masters degree in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University. He is also American Orthopedic Board Eligible by virtue of having cleared ABOS part 1 exam.

Dr. Bali specializes in all aspects of hip and knee replacement. His specific clinical interests include minimally invasive direct anterior hip arthroplasty, Robot-asssisted arthroplasty as well as muscle sparing knee replacement. Dr Bali has a high volume complex primary/revision arthroplasty practice for hip and knee. He has special interest and expertise in complex pelvic and acetabular reconstructions for metastatic disease. Dr. Bali is also the orthopaedic lead for combined Hemophilia-Orthopaedic program in the region and provides orthopaedic care to patients with complex hematological abnormalities. His practice is primarily based at the Juravinksi Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Bali is actively involved in resident and fellow education; arthroplasty research with Hamilton Arthroplasty group; and contributes to several professional organizations. He currently has over 75 publications in various peer reviewed journals of international repute. He currently leads the McMaster Orthopedic Resident Summer Anatomy Course and is the Juravinski Representative for MacOrtho Trainee Selection Sub-Committee. Dr. Bali serves as CTU Director for residents at the Juravinski site, and is also the chief preceptor for arthroplasty fellowship program at the Hamilton Health Sciences.

Dr. Bali loves to travel and spend time with his three girls (two daughters and a physician wife!), who he believes bring out a perfect work-life balance in him!!
