Dynamic Performance of a Frequency Controller

Abstract

A simple first-order digital frequency controller, based on a voltage-controlled oscillator, is both described and analyzed. Experimental results of the dynamic response of the controller confirm the theoretical predictions. In particular, it is shown that by appropriate adjustment of the loop gain, synchronism may be achieved in one sample period. Some applications are suggested.
