Abstract
Proton pump inhibitor therapy is so successful at relieving reflux-related symptoms and healing esophageal erosions that it has supplanted formal diagnostic techniques, such as endoscopy and esophageal pH monitoring, for the initial management of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
