Mast cells, nerves and fibrosis in the appendix: A morphological assessment

Abstract

Mast cells are closely associated with nerves in the mucosa of the appendix vermiformis, and obliteration of the appendiceal lumen by fibrous tissue is accompanied by neurogenous hyperplasia.
