How Expert Clinicians Intuitively Recognize a Medical Diagnosis

Abstract

Research has shown that expert clinicians make a medical diagnosis through a process of hypothesis generation and verification. Experts begin the diagnostic process by generating a list of diagnostic hypotheses using intuitive, nonanalytic reasoning.
