The Influence of Rolling Practice on Fracture Properties of Hot Rolled Plate

Abstract

The fracture behaviour of ferrite-pearlite steels finish-rolled in the (α + γ) region has been investigated and correlated with specific microstructural features. The effect of increasing the amount of deformation at lower temperatures in the (α + γ) region is to skew the ferrite grain-size distribution toward larger grain sizes at the same mean value of ferrite grain size, and to increase the dislocation density of the ferrite.
