An FDTD-Based Adjoint Sensitivity Approach

Abstract

We present a novel FDTD-based adjoint sensitivity analysis approach. Using only one extra FDTD simulation, the sensitivities of the desired objective function with respect to all parameters are estimated regardless of their numbers. Unlike previously published approaches, our technique does not utilize the wave equation and results in a much simpler formulation. Our approach is illustrated here through one example.
