Colon Cancer

Abstract

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and second leading cause of death from cancer in Canada. Screening efforts should be tailored depending on risk factors such as family history, age, and history of polyps. Testing for hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes with immunohistochemistry allows for appropriate screening of syndrome-related malignancies and genetic counselling. Here we review screening, multidisciplinary treatment, and surveillance of colon cancer based on current evidence.
