AI and ML in Food Industry: A Review Study

Abstract

Advancements in technology in various fields have significantly expanded the potential applications of robotics. This paper focuses on a recent area of interest: the use of robotics in the food industry. Robots have the capacity to revolutionize processes such as food processing, handling, palletizing, packing, and serving. As a result, there has been a notable increase in the deployment of robots within this sector in recent years. Consequently, key topics such as robot kinematics, dynamics, hygiene, economic efficiency, human–robot interaction, safety, and maintenance are critically examined in this review. Additionally, a comparison of the robots currently utilized in the industry is included. The findings indicate that the food serving sector represents a promising area for research, where integrating advancements from various technological domains could yield significant opportunities. It is expected that the broader dissemination of research in “Robo-food” will encourage greater collaboration within the research community and drive further advancements in the field.
