Disability, quality of life, burden of care, and stigma in mental disorders

Recent interest in the causes of disability has resulted in the publication of a large number of studies examining the disabling effects of mental disorders. This paper reviews the contributions of recent studies to the understanding of the epidemiology, psychosocial outcomes, care-giving burden and stigma due to mental disorders.
