Overview

Dr. Karin Neufeld, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine in Canada, completed a residency and fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She joined the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine faculty where she was promoted to the rank of Professor. In January, 2023 she was named Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and Morgan Firestone Chair of Psychiatry at McMaster University.  Dr. Neufeld’s primary area of academic and clinical interest is in improving delirium prevention and treatment strategies within the acute inpatient setting, with a particular focus on the critically ill and older aged postoperative populations. She has served as the Chair of the Johns Hopkins Delirium Consortium and is a Past President and Board Member of the American Delirium Society.
