The isomerization, catalysed by boron trichloride, of 2-Methylbut-1-ene

Abstract

Boron trichloride (2% in carbon dioxide) catalyses the isomerization of 2-methylbut-1-ene to 2-methylbut-2-ene at 368-467° with                        k2 = 109.71exp(-91460/8.314T) s-1 ml mol-1 Gas-phase isomerization catalysed by Lewis acids is thus extended to olefins.
