Mannitol-evoked cough response is reduced by inhaled salbutamol

Abstract

Background: Mannitol inhalation induces bronchoconstriction and coughing in asthmatic patients. Salbutamol causes smooth muscle relaxation in acute asthma, but its effects on airway nerves are unclear.
