Microbial community modulates growth of symbiotic fungus required for stingless bee metamorphosis

Abstract

The Brazilian stingless bee Scaptotrigona depilis requires the brood cells-associated fungus Zygosaccharomyces sp. as steroid source for metamorphosis.
