Attenuation of sound signals in foams for the basic oxygen furnace using physical modelling techniques

Abstract

The control of slag foaming is important for optimising basic oxygen furnace (BOF) performance. Acoustics systems monitoring wide frequency bandwidths have been applied to BOF monitoring for the purpose of understanding slag foam height and density but there is limited information about their accuracy and repeatability.
