Bubbling in a Tundish

Abstract

It has been proposed that bubbling in a tundish could remove small inclusions. A cold modelling study of inclusion removal has demonstrated that fine particles can be readily removed from a tundish fluid and that this removal is sensitive to fluid depth, casting rate, gas flowrate and bubbler position. A mathematical model has been developed to predict the effect of the parameters on inclusion removal.
