Chorioamnionitis and Risk of Long-term Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Offspring: A Population-based Cohort Study

Abstract

( Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2022;227:287.e1–17) Chorioamnionitis is a common type of maternal infection associated with cerebral palsy and other long-term neonatal outcomes. However, there is a lack of studies on the risks of other long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes following neonates exposure to chorioamnionitis. This study aimed to examine the association between chorioamnionitis and neurological disorders in offspring, including epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, cerebral palsy, autism, and intellectual disability, and how preterm delivery affects these risks.
