Chapter
- Heart Rate Variability: A Historical Perspective
Abstract
Heart rate variability (HRV) and blood pressure (BP) variability have emerged as multidisciplinary areas of research mainly due to continuous interactions between engineers, physicians and physiologists. Physicists and mathematicians have also contributed concepts from their respective elds. This chapter provides a brief historical perspective of HRV and speculates about its future.
