On-Pump and Off-Pump Coronary Revascularization Surgery

Abstract

Coronary artery disease is a lead cause of global mortality. Off pump coronary-artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) was developed to avoid complications of cardiopulmonary bypass and on pump coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG). This chapter discusses the development of OPCAB and CABG, the general features and surgical procedures of both procedures, and the current literature and recommendations regarding both techniques.
