Unusual static local field distribution in the spin-frozen state of icosahedral AlMnSi

Abstract

Zero-field and longitudinal field muon spin relaxation in AlMnSi quasicrystals show the spin glass state remains inhomogeneous down to temperatures of order 1100Tg. In the frozen-moment regions, the field distribution at the muon site is static but causes monotonic relaxation of the ensemble polarization to the “13 tail”.
