Power handling capability of all-silicon avalanche photodetector operating at 1550 nm

Integrated all-silicon avalanche photodiodes offer an alternative to germanium-based photodetection, although with much lower fabrication complexity. Here we investigate the optical and RF power handling capability of an all-silicon, defect-mediated avalanche photodiode integrated on a waveguide p-i-n junction structure.
