Exercise research issues in the spinal cord injured population.

Abstract

Although considered the gold-standard research design, randomized controlled trials (RCT) create a series of methodological, ethical, and practical challenges when applied to exercise training studies of people with spinal cord injury (SCI). These challenges are discussed, and some pragmatic alternatives are suggested to advance SCI research while maintaining scientific integrity.
