On a property of lattice paths
Abstract
It is well known that the number of lattice paths restricted by a one-sided boundary satisfies a recurrence relation involving coefficients which are counting numbers for unrestricted paths. In the same relation if the coefficients become counting numbers forrestricted paths it is shown that the number satisfying the new recurrence relation is a counting number for paths restricted by a new boundary.
