Maternal Risk Factors and Adverse Birth Outcomes Associated With HELLP Syndrome: A Population-based Study

Abstract

( BJOG . 2020;127:1189–1198) HELLP (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low platelets) syndrome has varying definitions and therefore a wide range of reported incidence. Only smaller studies, mostly in tertiary-care hospitals, have examined the risk factors and serious adverse outcomes associated with this syndrome. This study aimed to assess risk factors and adverse fetal and maternal outcomes associated with HELLP syndrome using a large population-based cohort.
