Bricked patterning: a new concept to enhance the capabilities of subwavelength grating waveguides

Abstract

In this work we present the bricked subwavelength grating waveguide, a new topology capable of synthesizing metamaterials with lithographic control over anisotropy and dispersion. Experimental results in 2x2-90º couplers demonstrate its potential to design ultra-broadband and polarization management devices with practical feature sizes.
