KINETIC ASPECTS OF MAGNESIUM DESULPHURIZATION OF BLAST FURNACE IRON.

Abstract

Bubbles were injected into carbon-saturated iron at 1250 degree C. In the range of sulfur levels studied (0. 0002-0. 2%S), most of the desulfurization takes place in the bulk of the molten iron rather than at the bubble interfaces. The desulfurization occurs at magnesium sulfide inclusions stripped from ascending bubbles of magnesium.
