Contemporary dry eye tests

Dry eye (DE) syndrome is one of the most frequently encountered ocular conditions by both optometrists and ophthalmologists. DE is a common source of discomfort that can seriously affect a patient’s quality of life, especially in the elderly population [1,2]. Studies conducted in the last decade have reported the prevalence of DE to be between 3.4 and 55%. Epidemiological studies have found that women are more likely to report DE symptoms than men [3,4]. DE is a condition that has a multifactorial etiology, which, in most cases, is always chronic and progressive [5].
