Abstract An attempt has been made to survey the research activity in selected aspects of the field of magnetic oxides for the period ∼1993 to the present. Emphasis has been placed on oxides with the perovskite and related structures such as the Ruddlesden–Popper phases, A‐site and B‐site ordered perovskites, pillared perovskites, and materials with structures related to the hexagonal perovskites.
