A Generalization of D’Alembert’s Functional Equation
Abstract
A functional equation with two unknown functions f, g is considered. When the domain of the functions is a uniquely 2-divisible abelian group, and the codomain is a field of characteristic different from 2, it is shown that there are exponential functions e, e´ such that f = e + e´ and g = ee´.
