New oral anticoagulants and oculoplastic surgery
Abstract
The use of oral anticoagulants is increasing because of the rising prevalence of atrial fibrillation and other cardiovascular diseases that occur in an aging population. In the last decade, several new oral anticoagulants have emerged, comprising the direct thrombin inhibitor dabigatran and the factor Xa inhibitors apixaban and rivaroxaban.
