Current and future uses of candesartan in the treatment of heart failure
Abstract
Candesartan is an angiotensin receptor antagonist that is long acting, well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and demonstrates an insurmountable receptor antagonism. It is an effective once-daily antihypertensive therapy that maintains good control of blood pressure for over 24 h. More recently, candesartan was shown to be an effective therapy for heart failure patients, producing a significant reduction in mortality and morbidity. …
