Generation and amplification of wavelength tunable short optical pulses from asymmetric quantum well semiconductor devices

Abstract

Wavelength tunable short pulses are generated by passively mode-locking a two-section asymmetric quantum well (AQW) semiconductor laser incorporating a bend in the waveguide. An AQW semiconductor optical amplifier is used for post-amplification. ©2000 Optical Society of America.
