Aerosol-enhanced flotation deinking of recycled paper

Abstract

Flotation is the process of choice for removing hydrophobic ink particles from repulped paper. Coating air bubbles with silicone oil by an aerosol technique has been shown to enhance the removal or carbon black particles dispersed in water. This work describes continuous on-site trials to test the oil coating technology in the deinking of recycled paper.
