Competitive adsorption of HMWK and fibrinogen from binary solutions and plasma
Abstract
The presence of a single chain of two-chain high molecular weight kininogen (HMWK), a protein cofactor found in biological fluids, inhibits fibrinogen adsorption but not the Vroman effect for fibrinogen/two-chain HMWK binary mixtures and for blood plasma. Inhibition is greater in the presence of the two-chain form, suggesting that the two-chain HMWK (TC-HMWK) may have higher surface affinity than the single-chain HMWK (SC-HMWK). This means that …
