Leaching of PCBs from a NAPL entrapped in porous media

Abstract

Experiments were conducted to evaluate the factors influencing the aqueous leachability and mobility of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners in porous media. Two columns packed with Ottawa sand containing a PCB-bearing nonaqueous phase liquid were used. A first-order dissolution and transport model described the experimental data using a dissolution mass transfer coefficient.
