Design of a Switched Reluctance Motor for a Pump Jack Application

Abstract

This paper discusses the design of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) for pump jacks that are commonly used in oil extraction industry. An SRM is designed as an alternative to a 10-hp induction motor. It is designed to have the same volume so it can utilize the same NEMA frame.
