We proposed, designed, and fabricated a monolithically integrated horn-waveguide asymmetric reflective semiconductor optical amplifier electro-absorption modulator (RSOA-EAM) to discriminately process down- and up-stream signals for colorless optical network units in the wavelength-division multiplexing passive optical network (PON).
