Mathematical modeling and fault detection and diagnosis of an electrohydrostatic actuator

Abstract

This paper studies the mathematical modeling of an electrohydrostatic actuator (EHA) for the purpose of fault detection and diagnosis. A relatively new model-based fault detection strategy referred to as the interacting multiple model and smooth variable structure filtering method (IMM-SVSF) is applied on an experimental apparatus. The results of this application are compared with the popular Kalman filter based strategy (IMM-KF), and recommendations are made for future research.
