On attempts to make the interaction parameter formalism thermodynamically consistent

Abstract

Although the interaction parameter formalism serves the needs of steelmakers quite well, it is thermodynamically inconsistent, because corresponding expressions for the activity coefficients do not satisfy the Gibbs–Duhem equation.
