Preparation and characterization of rubidium β′' alumina

Abstract

Polycrystalline rubidium β′' alumina was produced by ion exchange of Li2O-stabilized sodium β′' alumina with RbCl at high temperature. Ionic conductivity was measured by complex impedance spectroscopy over a temperature range of 97 to 390°C. The X-ray diffraction pattern was obtained using both diffractometer and Guinier camera techniques. The lattice parameters are a = 0.5613 nm and c = 3.4344 nm. There was no β alumina contamination in the exchanged sample.
