Microwave and optoelectronics education and research in Canada

The microwave research and education programs at McMaster University and at the University of Toronto are described, with an emphasis on the current research thrusts and their links to industry. Microwave research and education at the McMaster University is centered within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering whose funding is directed generally on communications which encompasses microwaves. The University of Toronto offers graduate courses and research opportunities in microwaves and photonics. The necessary aspects to establish competitive research and education programs in microwaves and in optoelectronics are also presented.
