Overview
I am an Aquatic Toxicologist with a focus on temperature and contaminants as stressors to aquatic species. In my basic research, I study the evolution, regulation and function of Cytochrome P450 enzymes in aquatic species. This research aims to understand the capacity that aquatic species have for metabolism of environmental contaminants. In my applied research, we study a variety of contaminants (e.g. pharmaceuticals, metals), temperature, complex mixtures (e.g. effluents) and multiple stressors to determine their likely effect on aquatic species. We are particularly focused on development and reproduction as endpoints in our studies of stressors because these are critical for maintaining healthy populations.
