Effect of thermomechanical processing on the mechanical properties of alloys (in particular those based on magnesium, aluminum and high strength steel). Current focus is on the formability and fracture resistance of automotive sheet. A second area of focus involves fundamental studies of damage in metals by means of computed x-ray tomography and the incorporation of damage into models of deformation and ductile fracture.
