J. R. Stone, or Doc Roc, is a Professor and SHARCNet Chair in Computational Biology in the Department of Biology and Director for the Origins Institute at McMaster University. Doc Roc’s research involves the fields astrobiology, bioinformatics, development, evolution, ecology, genetics, and physiology; computational studies on the genetic code and menopause; as well as organism groups representing each among the three major branches in the animal tree of life – snails, sea urchins, and tardigrades.
