Mark John Stewart is an Industry Professor focused on strategic management in the McMaster University Master of Communications Management (MCM) program, and an instructor and curriculum designer with DeGroote School of Business Executive Education. He is a Member of the African and Caribbean Faculty Association of McMaster (ACFAM) and supports the Canada Caribbean Institute (CCI). He has served McMaster University in many capacities, including as President of the McMaster Alumni Association, as a member of the Board of Governors, and as an Advisor to the Strategic Plan Development Committee and Metrics and Implementation Planning Committee for the University's 2026-2031 Strategic Plan "Bolder Together".
Outside of McMaster, he serves as Managing Director with Wentworth Strategy Group, where he leads a team of experienced consultants in delivering expert advice and execution for CEOs, boards of directors, and senior leaders in Canada and around the world. He is member of the Board of Directors and Chair, Governance and HR Committee, at the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority and has served as Chair of Canadian charity Empowerment Squared, Chair of the Bay Area Health Trust, and Co-Chair of the City of Hamilton Mayor’s Task Force on Transparency, Access and Accountability. He is also President of marketing agency FlyPrint, which has supported the community since 2007.
Mark holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History from McMaster University and an MBA in Strategic Market Leadership from DeGroote School of Business. He has also achieved the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors at the Rotman School of Management, and has completed executive studies at Harvard Business School and the Schulich School of Business.
As a public speaker, Mark presents to diverse audiences on strategy, governance, leadership, entrepreneurship, and reputation and relationship building. He has been recognized by CBC, Rotary International, Business Link Media, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, the Reverend John C. Holland Awards, and the McMaster Alumni Association for his leadership contributions. He is a recipient of the King Charles III's Coronation Medal and has been named to the Order of Hamilton.
