Overview

Fatima Sheikh, MSc, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Research Evidence, and Impact at McMaster University and the inaugural Health Equity Scientist at Hamilton Health Sciences. An early-career health services and systems researcher, her work focuses on health equity and the social determinants of health, examining how social and structural factors shape the occurrence and outcomes of illness, with the aim of advancing more equitable policies and care practices. At Hamilton Health Sciences, she leads collaborative research initiatives with communities, patients, and regional partners to design and implement processes for collecting sociodemographic data and advancing equity, inclusion, and anti-racism across the organization. Her work is grounded in a commitment to addressing structural inequities and to fostering cross-sector collaboration to drive meaningful system-level change.
