Dr. Schwalm is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at McMaster University. He is an Interventional Cardiologist at Hamilton Health Sciences and Niagara Health. He has an interest in coronary interventions and physiology, Transcatheter Edge to Edge Repair, Septal Reduction Therapy, and cardiac hemodynamic studies. Dr Schwalm is the site lead for cardiology at the Hamilton General Hospital, a Scientist at the Population Health Research Institute and the co-Director of the Hamilton Health Sciences Knowledge Centre. His research, supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), The Ministry of Health (Ontario), The Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS), Hamilton Academic Health Sciences Organization (HAHSO), World Health Organization (WHO), World Heart Federation (WHF), and Industry Sponsors, focuses on Knowledge Translation/Implementation Sciences, as it relates to the field of cardiology at the patient, physician, and health system level. JD Schwalm has authored 4 book chapters and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, including high-impact journals (i.e. NEJM, The Lancet, and BMJ).
