Overview

Dr. Danielle Rice is a Clinical and Health Psychologist and Clinical Lead at the Mood Disorders Treatment and Research Clinic. She is an Assistant Professor at McMaster University in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences. Clinically, Danielle focuses on providing treatment and assessment to individuals with complex mental health conditions, including those with depression and co-occurring mental health conditions. Her research program focuses on (1) improving the accessibility and quality of mental health and addictions care in Canada, (2) evidence synthesis to inform clinical guidelines, and (3) the development and evaluation of interventions for individuals with chronic health conditions.

 

Across her research programs, Dr. Rice partners with people with lived experience as collaborators and advisors, integrating their perspectives in priority-setting, study design, interpretation of findings, and knowledge mobilization to enhance relevance, equity, and real-world impact. She has published over 140 peer-reviewed journal articles, several of which have informed best-practice clinical guidelines. Dr. Rice is an advocate for patient-oriented and system-responsive mental health research and care and she actively collaborates on provincial mental health and addictions initiatives, including work with Mental Health Partners Research initiatives.
