Associate Professor, Surgery

Overview

I am an orthopaedic spinal surgeon and health services researcher with a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa. My doctoral research advanced health-related quality of life measurement and healthcare valuation, including development of multi-attribute utility instruments and value-based surgical scorecards for spinal tumors and cervical myelopathy.

I hold the inaugural W.H. Kwok Chair in Spinal Surgery Research at McMaster University and serve in leadership roles including Advocacy Chair of the Canadian Spine Society, Secretary of the Ontario Spine Society, and Board Member of the Ontario Orthopaedic Association.

My research program integrates surgical expertise with advanced clinical research methodology to improve care for patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM), a leading cause of spinal cord dysfunction.
